AUSF and WFA sign Memorandum of Understanding to jointly promote wushu development


(October 21, 2024, Macao, China) The Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) and the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at in Macao, China, marking an important step forward in promoting the development of wushu.

The signing ceremony was jointly attended by Dr. Liu Lixin, President of the AUSF, and Mr. Chan Weng Kit, President of the WFA, who represented both parties in signing the MOU. This year, the two federations successfully organized the first session of Asian University Wushu Championship in Harbin. This collaboration between the AUSF and the WFA will provide a broader stage for Asian university students and open up new avenues for the popularization of wushu, and through close co-operation, both parties will work together to promote the development of sports in Asia.

According to the MOU, both parties acknowledge the future development potential of wushu and agree to regard wushu as an important component reflecting the development of the AUSF and the interests in university sports. They firmly believe that through joint efforts, they can better integrate this unique sport into university sports activities, providing more opportunities for university students to encounter, understand, and love wushu.

Both parties agree to strengthen wushu cooperation through various means based on the principle of friendship and mutual benefit, jointly exploring new models and approaches for wushu in university sports and injecting new vitality into the popularization and development of wushu.

This collaboration will provide new opportunities for the popularization and development of wushu in university sports and will undoubtedly promote the further dissemination and prosperity of wushu globally.

Guests presented in the signing ceremony are: Mr. See Tow Cheng Fave, Secretary General of the AUSF; Ms. Cristina Chan, Director of the WFA Secretariat; Mr. Wong I Mun, Mr. Leong Chong Leng and Mr. Chu Fan Fat, Vice Presidents of the Wushu General Association of Macau.
