The Opening Ceremony of the 9th Asian Junior Wushu Championships


The 9th Asian Junior Wushu Championships hosted by Wushu Federation of Asia and organized by the Korean Wushu Association was held in Gumi City, Korea from September 17 to 20, 2017. The opening ceremony was held on September 16 in GumiCo Convention Center, Mr. Nam Yoo Chin, the Mayor of the Gumi City was invited to give a welcoming speech, expressing his warm welcome to all the guests, national athletes, team leaders and coaches to the beautiful city of Gumi, hoping our athletes to try its best in the championships at the same time to feel the charm of city. 

Mr. Mahdi Alinejad, Vice President of the Wushu Federation of Asia, made an opening speech expressing heartfelt appreciation to Korea Wushu Association for the organization of the championships and special thanks to Gyeongsangbuk-do government for their support to the event. 

Over 430 people from 19 countries and regions participate in this event. The opening ceremony started with traditional Korean music performance, presentation of souvenir to the organizing committee by Wushu Federation of Asia and follow by a cake cutting ceremony by Mr. Mahdi Alinejad, Vice President of the Wushu Federation of Asia, Mr. Julian Camacho, Executive Member of the Wushu Federation of Asia, Mr. Park Chang Bum, President of the Korean Wushu Association, Mr. Nam Yoo Chin, Mayor of the Gumi City and others, symbolic the official launched of the game. 

Korea Wushu Association has previously organized Asian Wushu Championships in 1993, the 4th Asian Junior Wushu Championships in 2007 and Asian Games wushu competitions in 2014. This year, the 9th Asian Junior Wushu Championships shows that Korea is committed to promoting the development of wushu sport and enthusiasm of the Korean people towards wushu.
